After heating up the hearts of ladies all over the world, British actor, Colin Firth is trying to cool them down. The object of many a Jane Austen fantasy, (along with his wife— sorry ladies– brother-in-law and an investor friend) will open Eco, a store dedicated to the green lifestyle.
Like the secretly kind-hearted Mr. Darcy, Firth is modest about his role as an green crusader. He told the Times, “I’m no eco hero. I’m supporting the shop because I think it’s a good idea. If I’m in a position to say anything, it is because I’m one of the culprits. I’m culpable because I’m a consumer. When you start to think about global warming, Western over-consumption, our energy wastage, it makes you want to improve the negative effects of your complicity in it.”
The new store, opening December 1st in London will be, according to the Times, “Britain’s first ecological destination store”. Not only will it provide fair trade, organic and environmentally friendly goods, the store will host green art and clothing shows. Eco also plans to serve as a consulting service. Experts will be on hand to school customers on environmental efficiency.
Hopefully we’ll be able to visit his store next time we cross the pond. We wouldn’t mind getting into his organic cotton pants. Greenhorne

Well, Mr. Darcy was concerned about his pond at his estate Pemberley and did some underwater investigation of the fish! Thanks for posting this. He is an amazing being. Take Care, Laurel Ann, http://www.austenprose.wordpress.com
