The Times They Are A Changin’ by beanstockd

Meet Bill Keller. He’s giving our beloved NY Times an environmentally-friendly face lift.

It’s the last week the New York Times will be livin’ large. The arguably most famous paper in the US, that’s won 95 Pulitzer Prizes since its inception in 1851 will shrink this weekend. Our Gray Lady will emerge on Monday a svelte 12 inches in width, a full inch and a half thinner than her current self. Does this mean the writers will have to be less wordy, you ask? We prefer concise. And yes, it does mean there will be some inevitable design alterations, but overall her integrity will be preserved. Keller estimates the paper will be shrinking by about 10% overall.

The Times is following in the footsteps of the Wall Street Journal, USA Today and others, who have realized the need to do something about their girth and environmental imprint on our planet. We beanSTOCKrs want to thank the favored paper of New Yorkers and suburbanites alike for keeping it green in the newspaper world and perpetuating this trend.
